1. Royal Challengers Bangalore

Royal Challengers Bangalore picked Anuj Rawat for INR 3.4 CR at the 2022 mega auction and gave him the responsibility to open the innings alongside skipper Faf du Plessis. However, the wicketkeeper batter failed to rise to the occasion and scored just 129 runs in eight games at a strike rate of 109.32.

Following Rawat’s poor outings, he was dropped from the side and Virat Kohli was pushed to the opening slot. However, given Kohli has been in rich vein of form in the international arena, having amassed 731 runs in 19 T20Is played in this calendar year thus far, RCB could be tempted to move him back to the number three position. As far as the opening position goes, Bangalore could look to draft in Mayank for that role.

The Bangalore-born is an established opening batter and his inclusion will add a local flavour to the side. Further, with du Plessis being 38-year-old, he might hang his boots after a couple of years and Mayank could be a great candidate for leading the side. Thus, one might witness the Bangalore franchise going hammer and tongs for the Indian batter at the forthcoming auction.
