The eagerness for the IPL 2023 auction continues to grow with each passing day.  The much-awaited event is slated to be held on December 23 in Kochi. The marquee event will present a golden chance for the franchises to rope in top-quality personnel and upgrade themselves.

Ahead of the player auction, 991 players (714 Indian and 277 overseas) have thrown in their names to go under the hammer. However, the submitted player list will be trimmed down based on input from the franchises. Among the registered players, there are certain T20 stars who have kept themselves in the INR 1 crore bracket. Many of these players are expected to get an IPL contract but there are a few of them who might go unsold.

Here are five players from INR 1 crore bracket who might go unsold at the auction:

5. Luke Wood

Luke Wood is one of the promising fast bowlers in the England domestic circuit. He has featured in 60 first-class games and bagged 132 wickets at an average of 35.18. Talking about the shortest format, the left-arm pacer has taken 74 wickets in 82 matches at an economy of 8.36.

The 27-year-old fared well in The Hundred 2022, where he bagged 10 wickets in nine games an economy of 8.25. Courtesy of his impressive performances, Wood broke into the international circuit. Though the left-arm pacer picked up three wickets in two games, he conceded runs at an economy of 9.12.

The Yorkshire-born will feature in the IPL 2023 auction and has kept his base price at INR 1 crore. Wood is yet to set the T20 circuit ablaze with his performances. And since he has played only three games for England thus far, he lacks experience of playing in the bigger stages. Thus, franchises might not be eager to pick him at the upcoming auction.
