IPL 2023: 5 Players Lucknow Super Giants might release ahead of mini-auction
LSG played some phenomenal cricket in their debut season (2022). But they lost the Eliminator to Royal Challengers Bangalore and got knocked out of the competition.
4. Shahbaz Nadeem
Shahbaz Nadeem has proved his mettle in the Indian domestic circuit time and time again. The left-arm spinner’s unique selling point (USP) has been his accuracy and he has shown his bowling might in the IPL as well. Though Nadeem has not achieved the same success in the lucrative T20 tournament but has done fairly well to bag 48 wickets in 72 matches at an economy of 7.56.
Lucknow Super Giants roped in the left-arm spinner at the last IPL auction to add variety to the spin attack. However, Ravi Bishnoi and Krunal Pandya were the first-choice spin bowlers on the LSG side and the duo being sure starters in the playing XI, it was tough for Nadeem to break into the side.
Moreover, Krishnappa Gowtham was selected ahead of the Jharkhand spinner when it came to fielding another spinner. Nadeem being so low in the pecking order warmed the bench for the whole season. LSG have spin options in abundance and might consider releasing the 33-year-old who was not even a first backup spinner on the side.
