IPL 2023: 5 Players MI might trade in trading window
Mumbai Indians were the wooden spoon holders in IPL 2022 with just four wins in 14 games.
3. Mayank Markande
Mayank Markande rose to prominence Indian T20 circuit after having a breakthrough season with Mumbai Indians in 2018. After a couple of years of dwindling returns for Rajasthan Royals, the leg-spinner was again roped in by the five-time IPL champions in this year’s Mega Auction.
However, Markande played only two matches and warmed the bench for the majority of the season. In those outings, he could manage one wicket at an economy of 8.50. On the other hand, spinners Murugan Ashwin and Hrithik Shokeen were higher in the pecking order and were given a longer run.
Murugan was impressive taking nine wickets in eight games at an economy of 7.86. Given how the Mumbai team managed Markande, it appears that the youngster is not part of Mumbai’s scheme of things going forward and could be released in the forthcoming trading window.
