1. Nicholas Pooran
The Caribbean wicket-keeper batter is going through a very rough patch lately. After failing to lead his team into the Super 12 of the recently culminated T20 World Cup, the 27-year-old relinquished his captaincy and the Sunrisers Hyderabad too didn’t show enough faith in him and released him ahead of IPL 2023.
He was bought for a whopping INR 10.75 crores but couldn’t justify his price tag. Even though he scored more than 300 runs at a strike rate of 144.34, he couldn’t take the team home on multiple occasions and it eventually cost SRH a place in the playoffs.
Now, given his current form, the IPL franchises might not look at him with keen interest and that can lead to Pooran getting sold for his base price. Given his stature, it is highly unlikely but a lot of similar things have happened at the IPL auction in the past. After all, who can forget Chris Gayle going unsold at the 2011 mega-auction.
