IPL 2023: 5 players who have kept their base price too high
The 2023 auction is all set to be held on December 23 in Kochi.
1. Tom Banton
Tom Banton was the hot property in the 2019-20 season when he was dismantling bowling line-ups for fun with his flamboyant stroke play. Courtesy of his awesome showings in the T20 circuit, the wicketkeeper batter broke into the international circuit, while Kolkata Knight Riders roped him in their arsenal for the 2020 season of the IPL.
However, it has not been smooth sailing for Banton since then as the 24-year-old failed to impress in the lucrative T20 tournament, scoring 18 runs in two games for KKR in the 13th edition. The Kolkata franchise did not retain him for the following season and the ace batter has not featured in the cash-rich league post that.
Banton has not been at his best of late. In The Hundred 2022, he could only score 83 in six games at a strike rate of 103.75. Given the England batter has not been amongst the runs, a base price of INR 2 crore for the youngster appears to be too high.
