1. Kane Williamson
Kane Williamson has been a run-bank in the Indian Premier League. The veteran batter has featured in 76 matches and amassed 2101 runs at a strike rate of 126.03. Sunrisers Hyderabad retained the Kiwi batter for the 2022 season and appointed him as the leader of the pack.
However, the 32-year-old was a pale shadow of his classic self and could score only 216 runs in 13 matches at a strike rate of 93.51. Moreover, Williamson failed to guide his side to the playoffs and SRH ended the league stage in the eighth position with just six wins in 14 games. The Hyderabad franchise spent a staggering INR 14 crore him and would have expected more from him. So, the team management decided to move past the veteran batter and released him ahead of this year's auction.
Since the New Zealand skipper failed to make a mark with his performances in the 15th IPL edition, many franchises might not be interested in signing him at the upcoming auction. Also, Williamson has not been at his best of touches in the international arena this calendar year. Though the New Zealand captain has notched up 443 runs in 13 T20Is, he has scored them at a strike rate of 118.76, which is not at par with the demands the modern-day T20 cricket. Thus, the Kiwi batter is expected to be picked at a significantly lower price compared to the last season.
