2. Ben Stokes
Ben Stokes is one of the most clutch players going around in world cricket at the moment. The 31-year-old was the chief architect of two of the greatest acts in cricket, the 2019 World Cup final at Lord’s and the 2019 Ashes Test at Headingley. Also, the southpaw showed nerves of steel in the finals of the T20 World Cup 2022 and played a match-winning knock of 52* runs off 49 deliveries to take his team to its second world T20 title.
Stokes has been a match-winner for England across formats. Talking about the T20Is, he has scored 585 runs in 43 T20Is at a strike rate of 128.00 and picked up 26 wickets at an economy of 8.39. He has also shown his prowess in the cash-rich league, scoring 920 runs in 43 games at a strike rate of 134.50 and bagging 28 scalps.
Besides his all-round skills, Stokes has a calm head on his shoulders and has shown his leadership might in the international arena many times. Thus, many franchises went hammer and tongs to sign the ace all-rounder at the recently concluded player auction. Teams such as Rajasthan Royals, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Lucknow Super Giants, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Chennai Super Kings tried to pick him. At last, CSK prevailed and acquired the Christchurch-born for a whopping sum of INR 16.25 crore.
