1. Joe Root
Joe Root has been a run-bank for England in both Tests and ODIs. The longest format of the game has been his happy hunting ground, where he has amassed 10629 runs in 127 matches at an average of 49.43. Talking about the 50-over format, the 32-year-old has aggregated 6207 runs in 158 games at an average of 50.05.
Root has the ability to anchor the innings beautifully and can also put bowling attacks under the pump with his marauding bat. Therefore, Rajasthan Royals decided to invest in the veteran batter and acquired him at the IPL 2023 auction.
Rajasthan have a lock jam at the top order with Devdutt Paddikal who is a designated opener required to slot in the middle order. Moreover, Sanju Samson & co. are certain to start with gun overseas batters in Buttler and Hetmyer as they were incredible with the bat in the last season. Thus, Root might not make his IPL debut in the forthcoming season.
