IPL 2023: Best starting XI of DC after mini auction
DC bought Rilee Rossouw, Phil Salt, Manish Pandey, Ishant Sharma and Mukesh Kumar at the IPL 2023 auction.
Delhi Capitals picked a well-rounded side at the 2022 mega auction with the hope to end the title drought in the Indian Premier League. They played some amazing cricket and put themselves in contention for the playoffs. However, DC lost their final group-stage game to Mumbai Indians and missed out on a playoff berth.
Rishabh Pant & Co. backed the majority of their players to come good in the 16th edition of the lucrative T20 tournament and moved past just five of them. The Delhi franchise went into the IPL 2023 auction with a purse of INR 19.45 crore and filled the gaps with top-quality personnel like Rilee Rossouw, Phil Salt, Manish Pandey, Ishant Sharma and Mukesh Kumar. Let us look at the playing XI DC might go with in the coming season.
Best starting XI of DC in IPL 2023
1. David Warner
David Warner has been a giant of a player in the T20 circuit. He has featured in 336 matches in the shortest format and amassed an insane tally of 11080 runs at a strike rate of 141.43. The ace batter has also piled on truckloads of runs in the IPL arena and made the tournament his own.
The 36-year-old has played 162 matches in the cash-rich league and notched up 5881 runs at a strike rate of 140.69. Delhi Capitals roped in Warner at the 2022 mega auction to add experience to the batting line-up. He played 12 games and scored 432 runs at a strike rate of 150.52.
The southpaw took bowling attacks to the cleaners and also steadied the ship whenever the team was in trouble. Warner is also a part of Delhi’s leadership group and is seen helping skipper Rishabh Pant in the decision-making on the field. The Australian batter is an integral part of DC’s set-up and the team management would hope he brings his A-game into play in the 2023 season.
