IPL 2023: Flop XI from fifth week
These players delivered disappointing numbers to their respective teams in the fifth week of the T20 tournament.
11. Trent Boult
In the first few matches, Trent Boult looked impactful for Rajasthan Royals (RR) as he consistently delivered wicket-taking spells to the team. Against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Delhi Capitals (DC), he delivered early breakthroughs for the Royals to bag the matches comfortably.
So far, the New Zealand bowler has done well against struggling sides but against quality teams, he has delivered satisfactory numbers. Against Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, his team was saving a mammoth total of 212, and noticing his experience and form, the Kiwi quick was required to spearhead RR’s pace attack from the front.
However, along with other RR bowlers, he also failed to contain MI batters. In his four overs, he grabbed Suryakumar Yadav’s wicket but also became the second-most expensive bowler in the match by spending 43 runs at a terrible economy of 10.75.
