2. David Warner
There was a time when David Warner’s presence on the crease used to instil fear in bowlers. In the cash-rich league, he has achieved a lot not just as a batter but as a skipper too. The dashing left-handed batter led Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) from the front in 2016 and won the title for the franchise with his incredible leadership and batting skills.
Going through his dazzling captaincy record, Delhi Capitals (DC) appointed him their captain for the 2023 IPL edition, in the absence of their regular skipper, Rishabh Pant. In the initial matches of the competition, Warner scored big runs for the team but at a sluggish pace. For his defensive batting approach, he faced the heat from former cricketers and ardent league supporters.
With every match, his struggle is getting worse as the veteran is consistently failing to provide ferocious starts to his team. In the previous week, he couldn’t rack up double-digit scores against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Gujarat Titans (GT). Against SRH, he fell to Bhuvneshwar Kumar on a duck while chasing 198. In the next game against the Titans, he got run out on two due to a misunderstanding with Priyam Garg.
