3. Krunal Pandya
Despite Krunal Pandya’s dismal show in both batting and bowling departments, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) handed the captaincy mantle to the 32-year-old. As a skipper, his responsibility will be to reinforce the team in the upcoming matches with his all-round performance. In the fifth week, Pandya featured in three games and struggled to be decent in two of them.
Against Punjab Kings (PBKS), he didn’t get a chance to contribute much as he got a chance to face only two deliveries and bowl only one over. While against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), he bowled an economical over on a slow Lucknow surface but couldn’t do big with his bat. With the task of chasing 127, his role was to stand on the wicket and play a mature knock to help his team fetch the match.
Instead of doing that, he played a negligent shot and got caught on 14 (11) by Virat Kohli on the third delivery of Glenn Maxwell’s sole over. Against Chennai Super Kings (CSK), he went on the field as a captain but nothing changed as he fell cheaply to Maheesh Theekshana on a duck.
