IPL 2023: Flop XI from fifth week
These players delivered disappointing numbers to their respective teams in the fifth week of the T20 tournament.
7. Deepak Hooda
Deepak Hooda has got a lot of opportunities from Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) to display his power and become a valuable asset for the team. Trusting his batting capability, LSG gave him 10 matches in this season, in which he has accumulated only 64 runs at a strike rate of 91.42. The LSG team management tried him as a top-order batter in a majority of matches but, Hooda couldn’t prove himself with his dismal numbers.
At the Ekana Stadium, Lucknow clashed with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in match 43 of the tournament. In the low-scoring contest, Hooda got a strenuous task as his team was following a low total of 127 on Lucknow’s slow deck and the hosts lost their three early wickets at a score of 21.
With his team stuck in a tricky situation, Hooda’s job was to hold his nerves and utilise his experience and skills to take his team home. In the tense situation, the 28-year-old again fumbled and gave his wicket to Wanindu Hasaranga after scoring only one.
