IPL 2023: Flop XI from fifth week
These players delivered disappointing numbers to their respective teams in the fifth week of the T20 tournament.
8. Sam Curran
In early IPL matches, Sam Curran delivered a decent show to Punjab Kings (PBKS) in both batting and bowling departments. The youngster also captained his side for a few games in Shikhar Dhawan’s absence and delivered positive results with his leadership skills.
However, his recent bowling performance has witnessed a huge fall as the pacer hasn’t succeeded in delivering economical and wicket-taking spells to his team. Contesting against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in match 38 of the competition, Curran bowled three overs and ended his spell with expensive figures of 1/38.
The same story was against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at Chepuak. This time, he bowled four overs and gave away 46 runs with one wicket in hand. In the high-scoring contest against Mumbai Indians (MI) in Mohali, the visitors failed to defend 214 and Curran again came out as one of the most expensive bowlers for PBKS.
