6. Dinesh Karthik (Wicketkeeper)
Dinesh Karthik’s bat has remained quiet in most of the matches, this year, and it has become a cause of concern for the RCB team management. Karthik, who is known for his match-finishing talent, has emerged as one of the biggest failures for Challengers. Of his eight appearances for RCB in 2023, the right-handed batter has scored in double digits only thrice.
The veteran had a golden opportunity to shine against RR at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. With the fantastic knocks of Captain Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell, RCB were placed in a comfortable position. From here, Karthik was expected to come heavily on bowlers in the last overs of the innings to help his team cross a 200-run mark.
The 37-year-old again got defensive and went back to the pavilion scoring only 16 off 13 balls. Against his previous team KKR in Bengaluru, his responsibility was to show his aggressive side and take RCB home after the dismissal of Kohli. Instead of playing fearless cricket, he came out as timid and got hunted on 22 runs after facing 18 deliveries.
