2. Sponsorships
In the cash-rich league, sponsors are the foremost source of income. From bats, bails, headgear, and team kits, the presence of brands could be found everywhere. The same goes for the franchises too as they tie up with renowned brands to promote them by endorsing through logos.
Larger the logo will be, the bigger sum the brand splurges on the franchise. Per Economic Times, within a year span, their sponsorship percentage has shot up to nearly 22 per cent. This year, 11 news sponsors joined the most successful IPL team, which took the sponsor count tally up to 25 for the 2023 season. Among all its sponsors, Usha International has been the oldest brand associated with the franchise for almost 10 years.
In 2022, slice became the principal partner for MI and since then, the soft-drink company’s logo has been appearing on MI’s official jersey. Along with brands, MI also earn a lot of money through league-related activities launched by their sponsors.
