8. Punjab Kings (PBKS)- {5/10}
Under experienced Shikhar Dhawan, Punjab Kings (PBKS) were expecting to lift the trophy for the first time, but now after the conclusion of the tournament, nothing has changed for the team as this season as well, they came out as one of the worst performing teams in the competition.
Sam Curran, who was not just the costliest buy of PBKS in the mini-auction but also the most expensive player in the IPL history, looked ordinary in both batting and bowling departments. Skipper Dhawan, Liam Livingstone, and Prabhsimran Singh strengthened the team’s batting unit with their consistent batting performances, but the below-par displays from bowlers took the team backward.
Arshdeep Singh became the highest wicket-taker for the team, but his imperfect line and length was something that helped batters plunder runs. Nathan Ellls started his tournament well, but after a few games, he lost his rhythm. Kagiso Rabada, who was expected to spearhead the pace unit, also struggled to be among the wickets. Sikandar Raza played some confident knocks with his bat, but when it came to adding strength to the spin department, he remained ineffective.
