Lucknow Super Giants have had a pretty good start in the IPL. Finishing third as a new entrant in the IPL while competing against top teams shows the core strength of the team. Carrying the run forward, LSG would look to replicate their performance from the previous year and make the 2023 season count for the KL-Rahul-led franchise.

Starting with the openers, they have KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock who will start the innings for them. At No.3, there is Deepak Hooda who had a prolific season in the IPL 2022. in the middle order, they could use Nicholas Pooran, Marcus Stoinis or Kyle Mayers. However, with de Kock missing the first match on account of national commitments, Mayers is likely to don the role of an opener.

This will give them the best possible set of players in the Top 6 with at least 2 left-handers. They have a problem in the lower middle-order positions where they lack players who can give those crucial finishing touches. They have Ayush Badoni, the delightful youngster who could be used in the middle overs so that someone like Marcus Stoinis can bat a little deep and look to give the finishing touch. They have limited backup options to choose from, which could prove to be a little vulnerable in front of a quality bowling attack. On a scale of 1-10, Lucknow's batting can be given 6.5 / 10.
