2. Abhishek Porel out of playing XI
In the absence of Rishabh Pant, Abhishek Porel became a part of DC’s 2023 campaign. For the youngster, this could have been a perfect opportunity but till now, he hasn’t managed to grab the chance with both hands. So far, the wicketkeeper batter has accumulated only 27 runs in two matches at a poor average of 13.50.
In his debut match against GT, the 20-year-old played some excellent shots but got dismissed on 20 runs (11 deliveries) by Rashid Khan. His brief knock however failed to find gain the required momentum, as the 20-year-old couldn’t turn up against RR bowlers while chasing 200.
Against RR, the 2022 IPL Purple Cap winner Yuzvendra Chahal sent him back to the pavilion on seven. With the availability of England wicketkeeper batter Phil Salt and Sarfaraz Khan in the squad, Capitals could exclude Porel from their playing XI against Rohit Sharma-led MI.
