1. Phil Salt in for Rilee Rossouw
So far in the tournament, DC have time and again trusted South Africa batter Rilee Rossouw to bolster them with his explosive batting style. However, the 33-year-old has perpetually failed to play his role efficiently, amassing only 44 runs in three matches. Playing the first game of the season against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), he looked well but failed to take the momentum ahead and eventually ended his innings after scoring 30 off 20 deliveries.
In the contest against defending champions Gujarat Titans, he gave his wicket cheaply to Alazarri Joseph without scoring any run. His poor run with the bat continued against RR as well. With the fall of Prithvi Shaw and Manish Pandey in the first over, his presence on the crease was essential for the team to pull off a massive target of 200. However, the Protea couldn’t handle the pressure and got dismissed on 14 off 12.
After getting miser numbers from him in the last two games, skipper Warner and the team management might find Phil Salt as the best option for DC in the next game. The 26-year-old has played some fabulous match-winning knocks for his national side England in T20 internationals. Going by this fact, the team management might not hesitate to include him in their playing XI for the upcoming clash.
