IPL 2024: 3 Bowlers RCB can sign as backups for Mohammed Siraj in auction
3 bowlers RCB can sign as Mohammed Siraj’s backup in the IPL 2024 auction.
After the deadline for the final list of retained and released players passed, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) released 11 players and were left with a purse of 40.75 crore. This gives them a total of 40.75 crore for the IPL 2024 auction.
RCB let go of Wanindu Hasaranga, Australia fast bowler Josh Hazlewood, and India pacer Harshal Patel, among others. This means that RCB is very low on fast bowlers in their contingent, especially the ones who could partner with Mohammed Siraj. They have the likes of Reece Topley, Vijaykumar Vyshak and Akash Deep to name a few.
But RCB needs a couple of very good pacers who can partner Siraj with the new ball and bowl well in Bengaluru’s small ground. With this in consideration, we check out 3 pacers whom RCB can target in the IPL 2024 auction.
Here are three bowlers RCB can sign as Mohammed Siraj’s backup in IPL 2024 auction:
3. Riley Meredith
Australian Riley Meredith has been impressive on the T20 circuit and even in the IPL as he showcased his ability to bowl express pace. He had been a part of the Mumbai Indians squad in IPL 2023 and when it comes to the overall IPL journey, the Australian has taken 19 wickets in 18 matches with a best of 2/24 and an economy of 9.46.
Though Meredith seems a bit expensive, he has 107 wickets in 82 T20 matches with a best of 4/21. He has also played 5 T20Is for Australia and picked 8 wickets with a best of 3/48. His extreme pace will help RCB to a huge extent as the Bengaluru pitch has something for those who clock over 145 kph.
