The IPL 2024 auction is scheduled to take place at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai on December 19. Each team will have a budget of Rs 100 crore, an increase from the previous year’s Rs 95 crore. This will be the third and final year of each player's three-year deal, and a mega-auction is scheduled for next year.
Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings, the defending champions unveiled the final list of their retained and released players on November 26. They have let go of Ben Stokes, their most expensive buy ever, and Ambati Rayudu, who retired from IPL. CSK also released three overseas pacers Dwaine Pretorius, Kyle Jamieson, and Sisanda Magala.
However, they can easily dip into the vast resources of Joburg Super Kings, CSK’s sister franchise in the SA20 league in South Africa. Multiple players will be in the IPL 2024 auction, whom CSK management, coach Stephen Fleming has seen firsthand and can be bought in the IPL.
Here are three Players from Joburg Super Kings CSK might target in the IPL 2024 auction:
1. Gerald Coetzee
Gerald Coetzee, 23, was South Africa's breakout hero in this ICC World Cup 2023. He led his team's bowling charts with 20 wickets in 8 matches, including a best of 4/44. Despite the heat and batting-friendly grounds in India, he bowled routinely in the high 140s. Coetzee also demonstrated excellent batting ability and can be relied on to accompany a reliable batter in difficult circumstances.
The pacer had a very good SA20 2023, taking 17 wickets in nine outings. This total package has undoubtedly elevated the bowler’s reputation and Chennai Super Kings might just aim to bring Coetzee to bolster their pace attack in IPL 2024.
