1. Reece Topley
Despite failing to get decent numbers from Alzarri Joseph in their first three games, the Challengers preferred the West Indies pacer over Reece Topley against Kolkata. In the crucial contest against the two-time champion side, the 27-year-old speedster looked completely out of rhythm and splurged 34 runs in his two overs.
Following Alzarri’s miserable bowling show against KKR, the RCB team management dropped him and inducted Topley into the playing XI. Playing his maiden IPL 2024 game against LSG, Topley also went expensive but got the crucial scalp of Quinton de Kock.
After the tough outing against the Super Giants, the England paceman looked brilliant with the ball against Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, grabbing 2/27 figures in his four-over spell. Topley’s performance indicates that RCB made a grave mistake by preferring Joseph over him.
