Along with Root, England’s star pacer Jofra Archer will also not participate in the 2024 IPL instalment. The speedster looked completely out of rhythm for Mumbai Indians (MI) in the 2023 IPL. In Jasprit Bumrah’s absence, his responsibility was to spearhead Mumbai’s pace attack but he failed to be impactful.

Playing five matches, he got only two wickets at an expensive economy of 9.50. After his disastrous bowling performance in the season, MI didn't include him in their retention list. Noting Archer’s struggle with injuries, the England Cricket Board (ECB) has taken control of his workload and informed that the ace pacer has not submitted his name for the much-awaited auction in Dubai.
