1. Ben Stokes
England’s Test skipper Ben Stokes became the talk of the town after receiving a lucrative contract of INR 16.25 crore from Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the 2023 auction. However, he failed to justify the hefty amount with his underwhelming batting display. In the entire season, he played only two matches and scored only 15 runs at a poor average of 7.50.
The 32-year-old recently went through a successful knee surgery after the 2023 World Cup. Before the announcement of the retention list in November, he informed the defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) about his unavailability in the upcoming season. Following this information, the Yellow Army also released him.
