The Rivalry Week of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 is currently underway, bringing with it high-stakes matchups and electrifying action. One of the most anticipated fixtures of the tournament, the iconic clash between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Mumbai Indians (MI), often called as the El Clasico of the IPL happened on Sunday, April 20.
Historically, both teams have dominated the league, each securing the IPL trophy five times, which has cemented their legacy as two of the most successful and popular franchises in the competition. However, the 2025 season has been far from ideal for both CSK and MI, with neither team performing up to the high standards they have set over the years.
Currently, MI sit sixth in the points table, with a balanced stats of four wins and four losses in their eight games. CSK, on the other hand, find themselves suffering at the bottom, with just two wins to their name so far this season.
The two heavyweights have faced each other twice in IPL 2025. CSK had the upper hand in the first encounter, securing a comfortable victory. However, MI came back with a revenge win in the reverse fixture, played at the Wankhede Stadium, where they comprehensively defeated CSK. Here’s a look at the players who underperformed in their recent clash against MI and contributed to the team’s disappointing outing.
3 Players who disappointed the most in MI vs CSK match -
1. Rachin Ravindra

In the first fixture between CSK and MI, Kiwi cricketer Rachin Ravindra played a crucial role in Chennai's triumph, scoring a fluent 65* off 45 balls and anchoring the chase from the front. The left-hander’s composed knock set the tone for the Men in Yellow and guided them to a confident victory.
However, in the reverse fixture at the Wankhede Stadium, the CSK batter failed to replicate his heroics, falling cheaply for just five runs and making no impact. His inconsistency at the top has been a concern for CSK.
