IPL 2025: 3 changes MI should do to get back on track
MI are currently languishing at the bottom of IPL 2025 points table after suffering two losses on the trot.

Franchise Mumbai Indians (MI) are currently in a familiar but uncomfortable position, as they remain winless after two games in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. As they prepare to host the defending champions, Kolkata Knight Riders, at the Wankhede Stadium, on Monday, March 31, Hardik Pandya’s side must regroup quickly before their season spirals out of control.
A slow start isn't new for MI, having previously experienced it in past seasons, including campaigns where they went on to win the title. Rohit Sharma’s poor form, an ineffective bowling attack, and questionable decisions have contributed to their struggles. Their latest defeat to the Gujarat Titans exposed multiple issues, from inconsistent batting to poor PowerPlay bowling. Hardik’s demotion in the batting order against GT and the absence of Jasprit Bumrah have only made matters worse.
With two of their next three matches at home, MI can’t afford further slip-ups. The Wankhede’s batting-friendly conditions will help the team, and if their players step up, MI might just rediscover the winning formula that has made them five-time IPL champions.
Three changes MI should make to get back on track:
3. Vignesh Puthur Back in the Playing XI

The team selection in their previous game grabbed massive attention after they benched young chinaman bowler Vignesh Puthur, who made a dream debut against Chennai Super Kings. The 24-year-old dismantled CSK's batting order with a three-wicket haul in his four-over quota, dismissing Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shivam Dube, and Deepak Hooda while conceding just 32 runs.
However, MI dropped him for their clash against the Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad, not even naming him as an Impact Player. Notably, Puthur is expected to return to the playing XI, likely replacing Mujeeb Ur Rahman. If MI bowls second, he could also be used as an Impact Player. As MI searches for their first win of the season, Puthur could be their trump card moving forward.
