2. Yuzvendra Chahal (INR 18 crore, Punjab Kings): 6 Teams
Yuzvendra Chahal became the most expensive spinner ever in the league, with Punjab Kings securing him for a whopping INR 18 crore. The right-arm leg-spinner, the highest wicket-taker in IPL history with 205 wickets from 160 matches, attracted massive interest after being released by Rajasthan Royals.
The bidding war began with Gujarat Titans, followed by a tussle with Chennai Super Kings and Lucknow Super Giants. As the bids escalated, Punjab Kings outbid everyone, surpassing the previous highest spinner price of INR 10.75 crore. Interstingly, his former team Royal Challengers Bengaluru also raised the paddle at INR 14.25 crore.
In a substantial back-and-forth, including a last-minute challenge from Sunrisers Hyderabad, Punjab finally clinched Chahal, spending a significant portion of their INR 110.50 crore purse. The auction saw a 177% increase from Chahal's base price of INR 2 crore.
