Before the escapades pulled off by Ashutosh Sharma during IPL 2024, not many would have known of him. Coming in as an Impact Player in quite a few occurrences, Ashtutosh pulled off some majestic knocks which saw him whacking the ball to all parts. He scored a total of 189 runs in nine innings, a particularly commendable effort coming in at No. 5 or 6.
He was a rare beacon of excellence along with Shashank Singh in what was an underwhelming, lukewarm campaign for the Punjab Kings. PBKS went with a really unique strategy which saw them retain only two uncapped players, one of who was Shashank. Ashutosh could be considered a tad unlucky for being released in the auction.
His story to the top has been anything but a walk in the park. Battling financial adversities, a fallout with a renowned coach which prompted him to change states for pursuing cricket, getting diagnosed with depression; despite the plights he has had to encounter, he has held his ground. An explosive strike rate of 187.07 in the 23 T20s he has played just goes on to show the hard-hitting expertise he has in his batting repertoire, something a host of franchises would desire to harness.
