The two-day bonanza in Jeddah on November 24 and November 25 is certain to be a highly entertaining affair. All the participating franchises are set to engage in a fierce competitive battle, which will include stacking up their squad with the best possible resources they could. Of course, each franchise would want to shortlist their own pre-determined set of players according to their strategy and the way they would have thought to carry their franchise forward.
The Deadline Day on October 31, 2024, laid down just the perfect buildup for the mega auction, which will be conducted in a few days' time. Each franchise retained the set of players their think tank thought would be the perfect fit to build the core for the team. Conversely, there were a bunch of players who were released by some franchises, those who were in fact expected to be retained in the first place.
In fact, out of the 1,574 players to have registered for the spectacle in Saudi Arabia, 1,224 of them are uncapped players. Uncapped players cannot just be excluded from the conversation in a dismissive fashion, for there is an abundance of talent and potential they bring to the table. Despite a truckload of uncapped players primed to earn the big bucks in the mega auction, below is a brief analysis on the three picks who could quite possibly be splurged upon.
Here are top three uncapped players who can trigger bidding wars from all franchises
1. Nehal Wadhera
Nehal Wadhera is one such power-hitter who could be valued really highly amongst certain franchises in need of a batter batting uptop. There is no doubt about his hard-hitting prowess, despite Wadhera being relatively fresh in his professional career. He was brought into the setup of the Mumbai Indians in 2023 and promised a lot with his performances.
The franchise placed their trust in him right from the get-go. In the 10 innings he featured during IPL 2023, he registered a tally of 241 runs. However, the following season saw him get benched for MI's first seven games despite no apparent dip in form.
Despite amassing 175 runs in six innings in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy ahead of the previous season, he was not given a go in the XI. After he was shortlisted in the XI against the Rajasthan Royals, he went on to show what he was capable of with a 24-ball 49-run blitz. The youngster has oozed energy whether for state or franchise.
