Deepak Chahar was an integral part of CSK since their return in 2018 till 2024. In the period, he played 76 matches and claimed as many wickets at a bowling average of 27.71, at a bowling SR of 21.01, at an economy rate of 7.91, including best bowling figures of 4/13. He won three titles with CSK in 2018, 2021, and 2023, respectively.

Chahar was released by CSK ahead of the 2025 season. While CSK went hard and tried to get one of their key bowlers back, it was not possible, as he went slightly higher and was purchased by MI in the auctions. For the Mumbai-based franchise, Deepak has played 4 matches and claimed as many wickets at a bowling average of 24.75, at a good bowling SR of 17.00, with best figures of 2/19. He has also scored 28 runs at a batting SR of 186.67.
