These bowlers let their sides down in the cash-rich league by bowling no-balls during the crucial stage of their respective matches.
2. R Vinay Kumar’s no-ball in the final over of the match (CSK vs RCB, Match 13, IPL 2012)
In the history of IPL, fans have witnessed some amazing battles between the two powerhouses Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Back in 2012, when both teams locked horns at the Chepauk, Bangalore lost the game on the final delivery not just due to Dwayne Bravo’s outstanding batting but also because of R Vinay Kumar’s gaffe.
Batting first after winning the toss, Challengers scored 205/8 at the end of their innings. With some joint batting efforts of Chris Gayle, Mayank Agarwal, and Virat Kohli, RCB succeeded in dominating Chennai’s bowlers in the match. Despite putting up a massive total, RCB bowlers couldn’t deter CSK batters and lost the match by five wickets.
To pull off the match, CSK batters Albie Morkel and Dwayne Bravo were required to pile up 15 runs in the last over. Vinay Kumar, who got trusted to save the total, dismissed Morkel on his second delivery but botched up the next delivery, bowling a beamer to Dwayne Bravo, which went for a boundary. Following the no-ball, the dashing West Indies player faced a free hit and smashed another maximum to take his team close to triumph.
