1. Ben Hilfenhaus’ no-ball in the IPL 2012 final (CSK vs KKR, IPL 2012 final)
In 2012, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) defeated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Chepauk Stadium in the final and featured in the news for the next few days. CSK definitely lost the match in the end but throughout the contest, Super Kings put up a brave fight to keep Knight Riders away from the game. While batting, their batters looked confident and racked up 190 runs with a loss of three wickets.
While talking about their bowling performance, they started excellently with Ben Hilfenhaus picking Gautam Gambhir in the first over. Except for stunning batting displays from Manvinder Bisla and Jacques Kallis, no KKR batter amassed the confidence to confront CSK bowlers with courage.
However, Hilfenhaus, who stood as a rock against KKR, fumbled and delivered a full-toss no-ball to Shakib Al Hasan in his last over. Following the no-ball, Shakib received a free hit and smashed a four that left KKR with a task to score nine runs in the final over. At the end of the night, Hilfenhaus’s no-ball went against CSK as they lost to the Kolkata outlet by five wickets in the final over, with two balls remaining.
