2. Shikhar Dhawan (6593 Runs in 213 innings)
Shikhar Dhawan, the man who has a smile on his face even if he scores a hundred or gets out for a duck, has been a silent warrior in the 16 years of IPL he has been part of. The left-handed batter has been phenomenal with his batting for all the franchises he has played for and has always made sure to play the role that the team requires the most.
The PBKS captain was recently criticized for his strike rate but Dhawan silenced everyone in the next match with a knock of 99* at a good strike rate when all his teammates departed rather cheaply. The single-handed knock was a statement of the amount of cricket that is still left in him and the commitment he shows towards the game.
The 37-year-old batter still has the fitness and ability to take on the bowlers and if he continues to play for another couple of years, the left-handed opener will truly be the strongest contender for the top spot for the leading run scorer in IPL.
