IPL: 5 batters who can finish their careers as leading run-getter in tournament
IPL has witnessed unrealistic levels of batting performances and has seen players becoming superstars overnight.
1. Virat Kohli (7044 Runs in 226 innings)
Virat Kohli has been part of the IPL from the beginning and the batter himself would be amazed by the achievements he has accomplished in the tournament. The batter holds the record of most runs (by far) in a single edition of IPL with 973 runs in 2016 and is also the leading run-scorer in the history of IPL with 7044 runs.
The 34-year-old batter has always been miles ahead of his competitors and this list is no different. The second highest leading run scorer, Shikhar Dhawan, stands with 6593 runs. Virat Kohli has had his share of lows too and was in the search of runs in the last couple of IPLs. However, the tides have changed in favour of the RCB batter and he has been showing that change in the ongoing season of IPL and is the fifth highest run-getter this season with 420 runs in 11 innings with an average of 42.
Kohli, with his fitness and love for the game, has plenty of cricket left in him and if he continues the same way, he would be way ahead of anyone in the list of top run-getters in IPL. He can easily set a record that would be hard to beat by any batter in the coming years of IPL.
