4. Makhaya Ntini
In the early 2000s, Makhaya Ntini was counted among the best bowlers in international cricket. With his ability to trouble batters with nagging pace, he became a mainstay bowler for South Africa in all three formats of the sport. Noting his reputation in the international circuit, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) bought him at the maiden IPL auction in 2008.
Throughout the maiden edition of the tournament, CSK performed exceptionally, and in one of the matches in the league round, Ntini also put up an impressive show with the ball. In the 41st contest of the league, Super Kings routed Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by three runs (D/L method) in a rain-curtailed game.
At the iconic Eden Gardens, Ntini produced fire with the ball and took a hat-trick by dismissing Sourav Ganguly, Debabrata Das, and David Hussey. Racking up 4/21 numbers in his four-over spell, he bagged the Player of the Match award. After the inaugural edition, Ntini never featured in the popular T20 tournament again, but the speedster impressed CSK supporters with his bowling performances in the first season.
