2. Michael Clarke (2013) - Lower back injury

Michael Clarke was one of the biggest names in world cricket during his playing career. With his batting, he did an amazing job for his national side by delivering some great knocks. As a captain too, he shone for his team by winning the 2013-14 Ashes series and the ICC World Cup 2015. In 2012, after keeping himself away from the IPL for four seasons, he became a part of it by playing for Pune Warriors India.

Noticing his reputation in international cricket, Pune franchise would have expected him to do wonders but with just 98 runs in six games, he could not deliver. Despite his poor performance with the bat in the 2012 tournament, he was expected to lead the side in the sixth edition in 2013.

However, the Aussie skipper decided to stay away from the league owing to his lower back injury. In 2015, he brought down the curtains on his international career and unsuccessful IPL career by bidding adieu to all forms of the sport.
