IPL: 5 Highest successful run-chases in tournament's history
There have been times when teams have done the unthinkable on the cricket field and have hunted down massive targets.
1. Rajasthan Royals chased vs Punjab Kings- 2020
Rajasthan Royals and Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) took center stage in the ninth match of IPL 2020. Punjab batted first and plundered a mammoth total of 223 runs in 20 overs, riding on an astonishing century from Mayank Agarwal (106 runs off 50 balls).
During the chase, Steve Smith and Sanju Samson obliterated the opposition bowlers with their marauding bats and kept their team in the hunt. Though Smith was dismissed after notching up his fifty, the wicketkeeper-batter kept on taking down the Punjab bowlers with his swashbuckling stroke play.
However, at the stroke of Samson’s wicket, Rajasthan needed 63 runs in 23 balls with Rahul Tewatia and Robin Uthappa at the crease. The task was quite tough but Tewatia was up for the challenge. He clobbered five sixes in the 18th over and turn the game on his head. Eventually, Rajasthan won the game by four wickets with three balls to spare.
