IPL: 5 Indians who can lead franchises in future
These youngsters with invaluable experience at the international, domestic and IPL levels could be seen as potential leaders by their respective franchises.
4. Yash Dhull
Yash Dhull hit headlines in February 2022 after bagging the ICC U-19 World Cup trophy for India with his captaincy. Leading a pack of talented teenagers, he looked ferocious as the skipper as his team went on to win all their games in the prestigious tournament. Witnessing his phenomenal show in the U-19 World Cup, Delhi Capitals (DC) acquired him at the players' auction for INR 50 lakh.
However, his IPL team couldn’t give him a chance to play in the tournament last year as experienced batters Rishabh Pant, Sarfaraz Khan and Rovman Powell were playing exceptionally in the middle order.
In September 2022, he represented North Zone in the 2022-23 Duleep Trophy and made his first-class debut. In his first domestic tournament, he put up an impressive show with his bat as the 20-year-old accumulated 291 runs in two matches, with a ton and a half-century. Noting his capability as a batter and leader, it won't be a surprise to see the youngster leading an IPL squad in the future.
