2. Ishan Kishan
Ishan Kishan has become a vital cog in the Mumbai Indians (MI) squad. Playing for the team since 2018, the left-handed batter has delivered a great many match-winning knocks. In his team’s fifth title victory in 2020, Kishan chipped in with 516 runs with four half-centuries in 14 games at a strike rate of 145.76.
With these batting figures, he also became the highest run-getter for his team in the season. These numbers of Kishan got him recognition in the team as the franchise splurged a hefty price of INR 15.25 crore to sign him for the 2022 season. So far, the southpaw has accumulated 1,551 runs in 59 contests at a strike rate of 133.01.
Looking at the future, MI will keep an eye on his performance in the upcoming years of the tournament and if the youngster delivers as per their expectations, the franchise could think of giving him control of the team. In the 2016 ICC U-19 World Cup, Kishan was appointed as the skipper of the India U-19 squad and under him, the team ended their journey as runners-up after losing to West Indies in the final.
