2. Munaf Patel-Nitin Saini (MI vs PBKS, 2012)
Mumbai Indians clashed against Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) in the 28th match of IPL 2012 at the Wankhede Stadium. Mumbai batted first and posted 163 runs on the board, riding on a sensational half-century from James Franklin (79 runs off 51 deliveries).
Nitin Saini and Mandeep Singh started proceedings with the bat for Punjab. In the third over of the innings, Nitin took Munaf Patel to the cleaners and hammered two fours. At the end of the over, Munaf had a word with the wicketkeeper-batter and the right-arm pacer was seen resorting to some verbal volleys.
Witnessing the altercation, the on-field umpires and the then-MI skipper Harbhajan Singh had to intervene. Munaf was fined 50 per cent of his match fee by match referee Raju Mukherjee for making offensive gestures during the game. Coming to the encounter, Shaun Marsh (68* runs off 40 deliveries) struck a magnificent half-century to guide Punjab to a six-wicket win against the Mumbai side.
