Cricket is often referred to as a gentleman’s game, but there have been many instances when cricketers have lost their cool on the field in the heat of the moment. With high pressure and high intensity games, players often lose their cool and get in the spot light for their not so admirable behaviour.
IPL also has been in the spotlight a number of times for the exact same behaviour by players. Players have lost their cool and have got into arguments and send offs which have resulted in even their match fees being deducted.
Virat Kohli, who is known for his aggressive celebrations and wearing his heart on his sleeve has also lost his cool on numerous occasions in the IPL.
Let us take a look at the few instances when Virat lost his cool while playing in the Indian Premier League:
1. Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir's on-field spat (IPL 2013)
The match number 12 between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) from 2013 is famous for the on-field verbal spat between Kohli and Gautam Gambhir. After being dismissed by Lakshmipathy Balaji, Virat Kohli, while walking off was seen animated after he heard Gautam Gambhir give him a send-off to him.
That didn’t go well with Kohli and he was seen walking towards Gambhir to engage in a verbal duel. The captains of their respective sides were not ready to back off that easily and were very aggressively having a go at each other. Rajat Bhatia, Gambhir’s teammate was trying his best to calm the heated exchange and not let the situation go out of hand.
The situation was so heated up that players had to intervene and separate both Gambhir and Kohli. Both captains, were in no way looking to back off from the moment and were seen talking aggressively when their teammates tried to calm them down.
Eventually, RCB won the watch, however, still, the duel between Kohli and Gambhir remains the highlight of that clash.
