Indian Premier League (IPL) has witnessed top-drawer batters step into the arena and ace the art of six-hitting. Some players have struck sixes by sheer power while certain players have counted upon their timing to clear the ropes. Chris Gayle is the most prolific six-hitters in the marquee tournament, having hammered an insane tally of 357 maximums. However, hitting sixes has not been everyone’s cup of tea and there have been batters who have found it tough to smash sixes in the lucrative T20 tournament. Surprisingly, there are certain renowned names of world cricket who have not struck a single six in their IPL career. Here are 5 star batters who have not hit a single six in their IPL careers 5. Aakash Chopra Aakash Chopra was a proven performer in the Indian domestic circuit. He showed enormous patience and determination on the cricket field and wore down bowling line-ups. The Agra-born featured in 162 first-class matches and amassed 10839 runs at an average of 45.35. However, Aakash was not consistent for the Indian team in the Tests. He featured in 10 matches in the longest format of the game and could only score 437 runs at an average of 23.00. The former Indian cricketer last donned the national jersey in October 2004. Aakash also featured in a couple of editions of the lucrative T20 tournament but his style of play was not in sync with the fickle T20 format and thus, he was pretty dismal with the bat. The former Indian batter played seven games for Kolkata Knight Riders and could score only 53 runs at a strike rate of 74.65. Also, he was not able to hit any sixes in his IPL career. 4. Callum Ferguson Callum Ferguson was a bankable name in the T20 circuit. The former Australian batter was known to put bowling attacks under the pump with his flamboyant stroke play and help shift the momentum of the game in the favour of his side. He played 147 T20 games and piled on 3217 runs at a strike rate of 124.83. Ferguson fared well for Australia in the 50-over format too. He featured in 30 ODIs and scored 663 runs at an average of 41.43, which includes five half-centuries. However, the North Adelaide-born was not able to thrive in the Indian Premier League. Ferguson made nine appearances in the marquee tournament and could only score 98 runs at a strike rate of 83.76. Interestingly, Callum, who was a consistent performer in the T20 circuit, and had inflicted carnage on even the best of bowlers, was not able to smash a six in his IPL outings. 3. Michael Klinger Michael Klinger was a prominent figure in the shortest format of the game. He steadied the ship when his team was in choppy waters and shepherded the innings beautifully. Also, the Melbourne-born displayed the aggressive aspect of his game when required and took bowling attacks to the cleaners. Klinger featured in 206 T20 games and amassed a staggering tally of 5960 runs at a strike rate of 123.08, which includes eight centuries and 33 half-centuries. He showed his class in the international arena as well and notched up 143 runs in three T20Is at a strike rate of 127.67. However, Klinger was a pale shadow of his vintage self in the Indian Premier League. He played four matches in the T20 extravaganza and could only score 73 runs at a strike rate of 94.81. Also, Michael, who had struck 146 sixes in the shortest format, was not able to clear the boundary (six) even once in the cash-rich league. 2. Shoaib Malik Shoaib Malik is a giant player in the shortest format of the game. He has featured in 510 T20 games and accumulated an eye-popping tally of 12,528 runs at a strike rate of 127.55. On the bowling front, the batting all-rounder has bagged 166 wickets at an economy of 7.00. Shoaib has left the cricket fraternity in awe of his batting exploits in the international arena as well. He has featured in 124 T20Is and notched up 2435 runs at a strike rate of 125.64. Also, the Sialkot-born has been a wily customer with the ball and has taken 28 scalps in those outings. Sohaib was quite mediocre with the bat in his appearances in the lucrative T20 tournament. The swashbuckling batter represented Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) on seven occasions in the year 2008 and could just accumulate 52 runs at a strike rate of 110.64. Further, he failed to hit sixes in the season. 1. Michael Clarke Michael Clarke was a run-bank in the international circuit. He was rock-solid in the middle order and provided stability to the batting line-up. The former Australian cricketer featured in 115 Tests and amassed 8643 runs at an average of 49.10, consisting of 28 centuries. Talking about the 50-over format, Clarke destroyed bowling line-ups with his marauding bat and piled on 7981 runs in 245 matches at an average of 44.58. Besides his batting might, the Liverpool-born was quite handy with his off-spin and chipped in with crucial wickets. However, Clarke was not able to set the IPL arena on fire with his batting displays. He featured in six IPL matches and could only manage 98 runs at a strike rate of 104.26. Moreover, the former Australian captain did not clear the ropes even once in the lucrative T20 tournament.
