IPL: Active players who have captained more than one team in tournament history
There are certain active cricketers who have driven the chariot of multiple IPL franchises in the lucrative T20 tournament.
5. Dinesh Karthik
Dinesh Karthik has been a bankable name in the lucrative T20 tournament. The ace batter has featured in 237 matches and amassed 4459 runs at a strike rate of 132.69. In his illustrious IPL career thus far, the ace batter has also been tasked to captain a team on a couple of occasions.
In 2010, when the then-Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) skipper Gautam Gambhir was unavailable for some games due to an injury, Karthik was appointed the leader of the troops. Again during the 2014 season, when the then-Delhi skipper Kevin Pietersen missed the starting games of the competition due to a finger injury, the team management looked at the wicketkeeper-batter to fill the captain’s boots.
Then ahead of the 11th IPL edition, Karthik was made the designated captain of Kolkata Knight Riders. He did a good job and guided KKR to the playoffs in his debut season for the side. Dinesh stepped down from the role mid-way through the 2020 season to focus more on his batting and handed over the leadership duties to Eoin Morgan.
