3. Ajinkya Rahane
Ajinkya Rahane has been a consistent performer in the cash-rich league. The veteran batter has put up an exhibition of his glorious stroke play and amassed runs for fun. He has featured in 163 IPL matches and notched up 4283 runs at a strike rate of 123.04.
Rahane also has experience of captaining multiple franchises in the Indian Premier League. In the 10th edition of the T20 carnival, when the then-skipper of Rising Pune Supergiant Steve Smith was unavailable, Ajinkya was asked to shepherd the troops.
Then in the 2018 season, Rahane was made the designated skipper of Rajasthan Royals. He did a fine job and piloted the franchise to the knockout stages. However, during the 12th IPL edition, RR did not have a great start to the season and won only two of their first eight games and so the think tank gave the leadership duties to Steve Smith.
