7. Sunrisers Hyderabad- Fazalhaq Farooqi
Afghanistan pacer Fazalhaq Farooqi was acquired for his base price of INR 50 lakh by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the IPL 2022 auction but in the previous two seasons, he didn’t deliver anything solid to the side. He got three matches in 2022 from his team, in which he scalped only two wickets at an economy of 9.16.
Sunrisers ended up at the bottom of the points table in IPL 2023, winning only four off their 14 contests. During the season, Farooqi was part of SRH’s playing XI in four matches but he looked completely out of rhythm with the ball. The left-arm pacer got only four wickets at an economy of 8.77.
Witnessing his non-performance, SRH fans were expecting the Afghan speedster to be thrown in their team’s release list. However, that didn’t happen as the Sunrisers' team management retained him and kept its faith intact in the Afghan player.
