The Indian Premier League (IPL) has long been known for its high-scoring matches, exciting finishes, and explosive batting performances. One of the most watched-out aspects of the tournament is the ability of batters to clear the boundary with ease. Over the years, IPL has seen several record-breaking innings where players have hit the ball into the stands multiple times and sometimes outside the stadium, making six-hitting a crucial part of T20 cricket.
From the inaugural season in 2008 to the present day, the IPL has evolved significantly in terms of batting aggression. In the early years, international stars and big hitters dominated the six-hitting charts, but in recent times, young talents have matched them with their ability to clear the rope and regular intervals. The record for the most sixes in an IPL innings currently stands at 17, which was achieved by none other than West Indian legend Chris Gayle.
