In 2016, when Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) lifted the coveted Indian Premier League (IPL) trophy under David Warner’s captaincy, their bowling unit delivered consistent support to the batting attack. On one, side, Warner looked ferocious with the bat while on the other side, Bhuvneshwar Kumar spearheaded the bowling attack confidently and contributed 23 wickets in the success.
After witnessing the dismal performances in the last three seasons, the SRH team management signed up Australia stalwart Pat Cummins for the upcoming season for a hefty amount of INR 20.50 crore. Along with veteran Bhuvneshwar Kumar, the Aussie star pacer can be impactful in the competition and help SRH claim their lost glory. There are still some weeks left to witness SRH’s bowling unit’s performance in the 2024 IPL but currently, the 2016 champion side’s fans can bring cheers to their faces with the five best bowling performances of the team.
Here are SRH’s 5 best bowling performances of all time in IPL:
5. Umran Malik’s 5/25 against Gujarat Titans (GT) in 2022
In 2022, SRH failed to do wonders but Umran Malik had a great season. The speedster took 22 wickets in 14 games and ended up as Sunrisers’ leading wicket-taker in the season. Against the debutant side Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Wankhede Stadium, he picked up a fifer while defending 195 runs for his team.
In his fiery spell, he picked up GT’s key batters Shubman Gill, Hardik Pandya, Wriddhiman Saha, and David Miller. However, Hyderabad failed to utilise his bowling effort in the end as Rashid Khan held his nerves and played an unbeaten 31-run knock off 11 balls to help Titans chase down the total successfully. Umran got the Player of the Match award for his scintillating bowling performance.
