Most Wickets in IPL from 2008 to 2025
Yuzvendra Chahal is now the highest wicket-taker in IPL history with 205 scalps

While Indian Premier League fans enjoy the spectacular batting displays, the significance of bowlers cannot be ignored. For every saying about batters winning matches, bowlers win tournaments. Wickets during critical times can turn the game around, and hence it is important to identify the leading wicket-takers in IPL history. Leading the charts is Yuzvendra Chahal, who has taken 205 wickets in 161 matches at an impressive average of 22.61 and an economy rate of 7.85. He was also the first bowler to get 200 wickets in IPL history. His best season was the 2022 season, when he took the Purple Cap with 27 wickets playing for Rajasthan Royals (RR).
Placing behind Chahal on the list of all-time wicket-takers are Piyush Chawla with 192 wickets, Dwayne Bravo with 183, and Sunil Narine and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, each with 181 wickets. These bowlers have been producing match-winning performances time and time again, demonstrating that although batters get most of the limelight, it is usually the bowlers who win matches and decide the fate of the tournament.
